Gavin McManus

Gavin graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004 with distinction and was awarded the Charles Preston Medal for his performance in his final examinations as well as the British Dental Association prize for the best overall performance throughout the final year.

Following completion of vocational training he undertook two years general professional training within the North West Deanery. During this period Gavin passed his diploma for the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Gavin’s practice is now limited to Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He currently works as a Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Pennine Acute Trust as well as treating oral surgery referral cases in primary care under both local anaesthetic and IV sedation for NHS England. The majority of his working week is spent treating anxious patients and this is something in which he takes a lot of pride.

Gavin undertook training in implant dentistry with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education and extended his skills by successfully completing the gold standard of implant diplomas with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and the Royal College of Surgeons England. Gavin has recently co-authored a journal article on implant dentistry for the British Dental Journal.

Away from dentistry Gavin enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife and two young children. He is a keen sportsman and, having accepted that his football days are drawing to a close, enjoys running, cycling and swimming as a means to keeping fit. Gavin is happy to accept referrals for dental implants, extractions (including wisdom teeth) and treatment under IV sedation.
