Sedation FAQs
How Does Sedation Work?
We provide you with a small dose of sedative medication before your treatment, this method induces a sense of calm and relaxation – whilst keeping you conscious and able to communicate with our team.
Many patients report feeling as though their treatment passes by quickly and with little memory of the procedure itself.
Prior to your treatment we’ll conduct a full assessment of your medical history and our trained team members will provide you with a sedation consultation which involves: a detailed health questionnaire, blood pressure/heart rate measurements and oxygen saturation levels. We also give opportunity for any questions regarding sedation o be advised.
What medical drugs are used for IV sedation?
We use IV sedation in the form of Midazolam. It is an extremely predictable and safe drug.
IV sedation is used in combination with local anaesthetic to achieve maximum comfort both before and after a procedure.
Extra care and attention
Our dedicated staff will look after you carefully, we ensure you are carefully monitored by your designated trained sedation nurse throughout your procedure; who will also complete frequent vitals/health checks and reports throughout the treatment.
We request that you please have an escort accompany you – to drive with you, stay during the procedure then take you home and look after you. It is essential your nominated escort can transport you back home and then can care for you at home after the procedure for the following 24 hours.
You with also be provided with a full aftercare kit and post operation instructions, to ensure you and your chaperone are well equip following your treatment.
Our caring team will also give you a ‘follow up’ phone call in the days following your treatment, to check that you are well and have all the aftercare you need.
